This is a status update on my resolutions, and a whole new set of updates will be coming soon.
Personal Fitness
Lift weights 3x per week – still doing it – I will assume this will stay a habit, and I won’t mention it again.
Do cardio 3x per week – this stopped because of my bum ankle. I tried adding 10 minutes of cardio to my routine but this injury just won’t let go.
Lose weight – this seems to be on everyone’s list in North America of a certain age group. I did end up losing weigh gained in the summer, but I’m back to what I was at the start of the year.
Walk during the day so I get used to the seasonal changes – this really worked. Last winter I felt like I couldn’t handle temperature changes at all anymore, and that my body was confused when being shuttled between heated rooms and below zero temperatures outside. I’m happy to say I’m comfortable walking outside in Minnesota in almost any weather.
Music
Record songs – this went to naught.
Make videos for promo – also, nothing.
Write new songs – all kinds of fragments are written down, but zero songs I want to publish. I wrote a nice song about someone who pissed me off at work, but that certainly won’t be performed or released. More important was just starting to write songs again.
Play shows monthly – this is mostly happening, thanks to Mikkel Bee.
Book shows with other artists – not really. So I did write this list in November so I’m hoping for more progress in the coming year.
Start memorizing lyrics while driving – I made a good start here and started memorizing some songs, I hope to have our entire catalog memorized at the start of 2025.
Work
Make a new website – done
Post monthly on social media – definitely not done. Or better yet, done only a little bit earlier this year.
House
Kitchen renovation – done
Build shelves with Ian – we finished a bookshelf together! Definitely had issues building it, mostly due to my own lack of knowledge and experience, but it was a progress accomplished.
Build garage shelves – now it’s really too cold to build inside, and the family would kill me for cutting wood indoors, so this is done until the weather changes.
Random Skills
Start learning Romanian – I finished the Pimsleur Romanian course, which was a good way for me to start. I’m almost finished reading my first book in Romanian, a non-fiction study on Romanian DNA and what it says about the people who live (and have lived) there. I’m thrilled because I only started in September and feel comfortable pretty much reading anything in Romanian now, but I’m very far from being able to speak to someone.
